So for any training on how to handle frustrated children missing their parents for a childcare provider or for any hot new children’s breakfast recipes, I’d be happy to act as an intermediary to my Nana, of course, I’ll need a cut!

In fact, the next example took place about 7 months before I sustained my TBI which kind of blows up my theory that the brain injury causes any of my mistimed or inappropriate comments.

What an experience that was almost 25 years ago to visit that terrain. While I’m not a veteran who knows firsthand the horrors of war, I certainly appreciate the sacrifices that have been made by those valiant generations who’ve fought for all of us. There has to be some kind of spiritual connection to the past to explain the strength of emotion that I felt that day, regardless, I’m reminded to remember the experience with gratitude.

To see the community come together to support KC and be cheered on by the other participants really means a lot. I guess you could call it a true win-win, or rather a win-win-win…Participants have a great time, Krempels Center is supported with important funding, and a lot of people receive the benefits of recreation!

I know that it was November of 2008 when I first attended KC and while I can’t remember exactly when I met David, it was an instant connection. I like to think of him as “my brother from another mother!” The fact that we’re both vertically challenged may have contributed to our becoming fast friends, but we’ve come to discover many common interests.

I’ll never forget that morning, I was on a “sabbatical” from college and was lucky that my grandfather offered me a job while I figured out what I wanted to do.
