Decision Time

At the risk of sounding dramatic and perhaps taking an overly simplistic view on things at this moment, I believe that brain injured or not, we all must choose between living life on life’s terms with, its’ oftentimes uncomfortable acceptance, or constant struggle.

What’s the hardest part?

For a kid who remembers the dread of giving presentations to classrooms full of my peers in school, it surprises even me how much I enjoy sharing my experience with others. While individuals going through similar struggles or dealing with losses that look the same can certainly provide invaluable support, often easing that horrific feeling of isolation, I find that struggle and grieving occur universally among humans.

Most of us are familiar with the human emotions of Guilt and Gratitude. Upon hearing the words, I can’t help but feel as though each feeling can often result from similar events when viewed from different perspectives.

Since this is MTSB’s first post, perhaps it would be helpful for me to give a brief biographical context for this blog. On July 4th, 2006, at 23 years old I drove drunk, crashing into the woods sustaining a Traumatic Brain Injury.
