A “Perfectionist”, not me?

The last thing that comes to mind when one hears the word perfectionist may just be a seemingly unmotivated, chronic academic underachiever: Perhaps a Valedictorian would be more expected  rather than the class clown. So one could imagine my surprise when multiple times I’ve had my behavior called perfectionistic! I would normally discount these opinions absurd had they not been given by professionals with multiple letters trailing their names.

And on that note, I return to the way I rectify the seeming contradiction that is my Spiritual view on the universe:  Why God, an entity representing pure love, created a world where difficult, often painful, the “bitter” if you will, things even occur? Herein lies the majesty of God’s work!

Not “Just Sports”

The point I’m trying to make is not that an oversized focus on sports at the expense of academic achievement is ideal; rather that, a child’s passion for a sport shouldn’t be dismissed as unimportant. In fact, this principle applies just as much for a student devoted to art, whether that be music, visual arts, or theatre.

Since yesterday was Mother’s Day, first off, happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. And while most people probably feel that they have the best mom in the world, I can say for sure that the amount of love and support my mom has given me throughout my life is beyond description in words.

This was exactly the challenging situation faced by Dr. Martin and Marilyn Spivack, who in 1980 meet with five family members to discuss the need for an organization “to effect change for individuals with brain injury.”
